Supporting Vulnerable Debtors

We offer free specialist support to those who are either living on low earned incomes or are dependent on benefits, when they face court proceedings for claims from statutory authorities.

So please contact us if you are experiencing difficulties with:

  • rent arrears
  • housing benefit
  • bailiffs
  • council tax debts
  • gas and electricity disconnections and prepayment meters
  • benefit and tax credit overpayments

As we support households of the lowest income, we do not provide help with credit card debts or mortgages.

If you are experiencing debt problems, we can help in your dealings with:

  • the local authority
  • officials at the Department for Work and Pensions
  • the Tax Credit office, HM Revenue & Customs
  • your landlord
  • the courts
  • the utility companies

We can give you support if you have to go to court or a tribunal because of a debt. We can also help you consider taking a case to the Ombudsman or help you consider referring your case to a specialist solicitor, if you may qualify for Legal Aid.

As expressed by someone we helped "Without their (Z2K) help, the Council would have made me bankrupt & we would have been homeless".
