In memory of Maev Sullivan
Z2K Office Manager Lilian Lee remembers the warmth, generosity and support of our former trustee Maev Sullivan
Lilian Lee, Office Manager
We at Z2K recently lost a dear friend and supporter, when Maev Sullivan passed away. I have known Maev since I started working as an administrator at Z2K in late 2008. She kindly volunteered to provide admin cover when the previous administrator had to leave early, and she welcomed me into the charity and helped me get started.
Maev was always very supportive and encouraging. She was very much involved in the growth of Z2K and a keen supporter of our fundraising efforts. I remember our first London Legal Support Trust fundraising walk, in 2009. Together with our former CEO Joanna, Maev and I attempted to do the whole 10km to raise funds for Z2K. It was lovely to get to know Maev better and I remember her keeping our spirits up by recounting stories from Radio Four’s series The Archers. And as well as all the chatting, we did eventually manage to finish the route – with a tea break.
From then on, she would either walk or fundraise with us every year, and when she couldn’t join the walk, she would donate to those of us who were doing it. She also helped out with our other fundraising events, taking a table at one of our Quiz Nights and helping get presents for the Quiz Night auction.
She also served as Vice Chair in the board of trustees and Company Secretary until 2017 when she felt it was time to pass on the baton, having been a trustee since 2009. Throughout all that time, she brought a great spirit of kindness, dedication and encouragement to the charity.
I really wish we had the chance to say thank you and goodbye. You will live on in our memories, and in the work of Z2K.
