Current opportunities We are currently recruiting for the following volunteers: Triage and Casework Support Volunteer If you want to work directly with clients and help clients to move forward with their benefits issues, but you do not want to manage your own caseload, then this role would suit you. Duties include: Answering new enquiries and taking basic diagnostic client information Dealing with basic matters regarding existing clients Entering data into our casework database – Salesforce Case opening and closing Assisting the Caseworker with basic steps to progress the case Support with scanning bundles Signposting Client feedback and questionnaires Monitoring outcomes Welfare Benefits Caseworker If you already have experience of working with clients in a legal or advice setting, then you may feel ready to work towards managing your own caseload under the supervision of the Senior Casework Manager. Duties include: Interviewing clients and taking instructions Drafting statements/letters Written submissions and representation at tribunals Liaison with external agencies Giving general advice and signposting All admin duties relating to casework Monitoring outcomes Support worker If you want to work directly with people who are on low incomes and in addition face multiple and complex challenges, and you genuinely want to make a difference in terms of empowering people to take necessary steps to change their lives, then this volunteering opportunity is for you. Working either with the Stepping Stones Coordinator or the Housing Liaison Officer for the Private Rented Access Next Door project, you will work directly with clients in a support role. This role will suit you if you want to gain experience either in housing matters or client support work. Duties will include: Using tools designed by Z2K to undertake self-assessment interviews with clients to help them to understand where they want to get to. Identifying and securing external support services as appropriate Regular contact and meetings to check progress with clients Identifying ways to maximise income, for example applying for small grants Help with acquiring white goods and other essential items at the start of a tenancy Seeking feedback from clients Monitoring outcomes Policy and Communications Volunteer If you are interested in social security policy and influencing policymakers to improve the system so everyone has access to the safety net they need, you may like to volunteer with our policy team.
