Donate to Z2K’s London Legal Walk team

The London #LegalWalk will be taking place again this year on Monday 18th October 2021. Our team is made up of staff, trustees and volunteers, and we would love your support.

The London Legal Support Trust  (LLST) has launched The London #LegalWalk again for 2021, with hundreds of teams taking part on Monday 18th October to walk 10k for access to justice.

Please donate what you can afford to:

Z2K’s staff, trustees and volunteers will be taking part to raise vital funds for our charity that will help us continue our casework services, campaigning and policy influencing work during this time. We combine direct help for people living in poverty in London with national campaigning for social security and housing systems that work for all. Our unique, integrated model of working enables us to directly help thousands of people access justice whilst also pursuing transformative change for hundreds of thousands nationally.

“I received a lot of help from Z2K, and they helped me identify many issues I did not know I had with my benefits. They helped me get my property back, clear rent arrears and helped resolve issues with my Universal Credit. I also received wraparound support the help me budget better and was helped to obtain a grant to buy my clothes for a job interview and they also invited me to attend different workshops, where I met many different people and really enjoyed it.”

Our caseworkers provide in-depth advice, representation, and wrap around support to around 1000 people annually, supporting them to secure their social security and housing legal rights and entitlements leading to improved incomes and housing security. They offer support over an average of eight months on complex benefits issues (eligibility, applications, maladministration, appeals) and housing problems (homelessness, rent arrears, threat of eviction, housing suitability). We also provide wrap around support to address immediate crisis needs (access to grants for essential items, foodbank referrals) and to address broader challenges (referral to mental health and addiction services). We offer workshops developing skills, capacity and addressing social isolation. We utilise evidence generated from our casework to inform our campaigning and influencing activities seeking to secure reform to the policies and practices that deny people the support to which they are entitled pushing them further into poverty. We know this work is needed, as the pandemic has only exacerbated people’s situations further.

Please sponsor our walkers, made up of staff, trustees and volunteers, as generously as you are able. As little as £5 can make a huge difference.

All money fundraised through our Virgin Money Giving page, will fund Z2K’s vital work. We are fortunate that, in addition to the funds we fundraise, we will also receive a grant from the London Legal Support Trust from the event’s total fundraised income. Here’s what your support could mean for our small charity:

  • A donation of £5 could answer the phone to someone that needs support
  • A donation of £20 could contribute to the costs of one of our caseworkers to help someone with a benefits or housing issue
  • A donation of £50 could contribute to the costs of our policy influencing and campaigning work to change policy and practices that are harming people on low incomes
  • A donation of £100 could fund a client who has been refused sickness or disability related benefits with representatives to appeal the decision

Many thanks for your support.
