Chief Executive Officer

Acting as ambassador and spokesperson, we are now looking for our next CEO to be the public face of all our campaigning and casework. You will lead the organisation to the next stage in our growth, building on our current strategy to ensure a bigger impact and change for the millions of people who are living in poverty.

Z2K (Zacchaeus 2000 Trust) is an anti-poverty charity, campaigning for a social security system that works as a safety net and a tool for move on.

Our casework reaches hundreds of Londoners annually, who would otherwise be denied the benefits they are entitled to and would be at serious risk of homelessness. Our policy work is of national relevance as we seek to influence government and policymakers on the injustices we see in welfare reform as well as housing issues.

We take an evidenced-based, rigorous approach, meaning our policy work is based on our casework and the experiences of our clients.

In 2019, we helped 1,220 people to fight for their benefits, securing nearly £3m in financial benefits in total.  This number includes representing 451 clients at tribunal, mainly in relation to disability benefits. To date, 343 tribunal hearings have had decisions made, of which we won 313 cases, a 92% win ratio which highlights the staggering number of people who are systematically being denied access to the benefits they are entitled to.  In addition to our casework, we helped house single homeless people in the Private Rented Sector and many others to maintain their tenancies.  We also assisted 187 people to access additional services such as ESOL, financial capability and counselling.

Acting as ambassador and spokesperson, we are now looking for our next CEO to be the public face for all our campaigning and casework. You will lead the organisation to the next stage in our growth, building on our current strategy to ensure a more significant impact and change for the millions of people who are living in poverty.   A vital element of the role will be to maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in government, parliament, sector-wide partners and the media.   You will also take overall responsibility for increasing and diversifying our income streams, building on our strong relationships with existing funders and seeking out new opportunities.  In all of this, you will work closely with the Senior Management Team, made up of a Director of Policy and Head of Casework and Support Services.  In addition, you will line manage and be supported by a Fundraising Manager and an Office Manager.

You will report directly to the Chair of Trustees and be responsible to the full Board.

This is an exciting time to be joining Z2K, building on its most recent successes.  We are reaching the end of our current three-year strategy; our focus remains on social security and housing, but there is scope within this to shape the direction in which we continue to go.
