Support us on the London Legal Walk
On 21st May Z2K staff, friends and volunteers will be doing the London Legal Walk to raise vital funds for people with no access to justice.
Staggering cuts to the welfare system, rapidly soaring rents and the removal of legal aid have had a devastating impact on people already struggling with low incomes. Without proper legal and welfare advice thousands of people are being put at risk of homelessness and destitution.
But with the right support, that can change. With our help, people can claim the benefits they are entitled to, dispute incorrect decisions in court and find safe and secure housing.
That’s why we’re doing the walk. And that’s why we’re asking for anyone who can to sponsor us. All the money we raise will go directly to providing housing, welfare and legal support for people in need.
CEO Raji Hunjan says, “The London Legal Walk is an opportunity for all of us at Zacchaeus 2000 Trust to raise funds and help people access free benefits and housing advice.
The last few years have been particularly challenging for people on low income. Not only have significant changes in welfare benefits made it more difficult for people to get by, but also with high rents and housing benefit caps, life is extremely tough for many people. Add to that the severe cuts in legal aid, it’s no surprise to us that so many of our clients are left voiceless and desperate.
We work to address this through direct casework as well as campaigning. All our funding is raised through donations and grants, we receive no government funding. So you can be assured that everything you donate to us goes directly towards our vital services.”
